In this edition of the newsletter, I would like to share with you some reflections on the benefits of ever-closer cooperation between program directors and members of the faculty. It is for this reason that I would like to thank Luis Solis and his team for organizing a calendar of different workshops involving faculty and program directions. This initiative not only gives us the opportunity to discuss really important topics such as feedback, diversity, class participation…etc., but also creates a habit of program directors and faculty working closely together, exchanging opinions and sharing best practices.
Program directors are the principal connection point for all critical program stakeholders – students, faculty and other IE departments. Our interaction with students and other IE departments has always been very intense; but when it comes to relations with faculty, I firmly believe there are lots of benefits to intensifying our interactions, especially when it comes to you, our excellent adjunct faculty. We can be a tremendous resource to one another when it comes to improving our students ‘experience, understanding the differences and similarities among programs and student profiles, and jointly confronting different problems that may arise in a section or course.
IE has students from over 100 countries on campus and an average of 90% international students in English programs. This is an incredible opportunity but also an enormous challenge for us as we try to maximize every student’s personal growth, development, and learning experience. All of them come with different expectations that we, as an institution, have to fulfill.
If we all join our efforts, work together and maintain an ongoing communication, we will definitely be much better positioned to meet this challenge. And in my view this is essential if we are to further consolidate our position as one of the world’s leading business schools and higher education institutions.
We are not a mass production company; rather, we are fortunate enough to work with talented individuals from all over the world who we hope will graduate from IE to change the world, each of them in their own way. It’s an incredibly noble mission, but one that needs innovation, fresh ideas, a constant commitment to excellence, and an extraordinary amount of teamwork on the part of all of us. This has always been IE’s strengths and recent initiatives will help us get even better at this!
Thank you very much for your support.
