IE Library hosted the latest IFLA’s Management & Marketing Standing Committee’s Mid-term meeting, that took part in Madrid between the 10th and 13th of February.
It is always an honor to host a group of librarians from all over the world: Smithsonian Institution Libraries (USA), National Library of Greece, Bibliotheca Alexandrina (Egypt), Aberystwyth University (UK),New Jersey State Library (USA), Lower Saxony Library Association (Germany), National Library of Lithuania, Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco (USA), University of Manitoba (Canada), Goethe-Institut (Germany), Florida State University (USA),Lincoln University (New Zealand), Bibliothèque publique d’information (Paris), Zeeuwse Bibliotheek Middelburg (Netherlands), Peking University Library(China), Hordaland County Library (Norway),University of Ottawa (Canada), Russian State Library,Biblioteksentralen A/L (Norway), Ryerson University(Canada) and Êcole Supérieure de Banque (Algeria)
The meeting focused on having the Standing Committee business meetings and the IFLA BibLibre International Library Marketing Award to the best library marketing project, afer the deliberation of the Jury members, in which IE Library also takes part. The Congress also gave the opportunity to meet Spanish librarians and share their experiences about “Libraries & Technology“. Under that moto, the IE Library presented the latest technologies and advances they have implemented, like My IE Library Account APP, the installation of Smart Areas as a new way of communication with the IE Community, Augmented reality devices like Layar APP and Google Cardboard glasses, Leap motion as a gesture recognition device for perceiving the reality on a whole new way … among others.
All the assistants could have a taste of the Spanish culture with the visit to the Spanish National Library and the guided tour around Madrid.
